the birthday continued

birthday collage

I survived making my birthday cake.  It turned out well, though not as smooth and pretty as the picture from the recipe.  I did forego all the additional piping and ballerinas.  I was just pleased to get this far when I really only had 1  1/2 hrs to fit making a cake.  My hubs and daughter both bought me the pink and yellow tulips I hinted for.  It was sweet that my daughter insisted on paying for one of the bouquets.

Tonight is my husband’s company’s Winner’s Circle Black Tie event.  I still don’t have shoes to wear with my dress, so I am off to try to find a pair.  Nothing like waiting till the last minute!  I really just want to crawl in bed since this has been such a long week.  But alas!

  1. Glad you survived the cake making…I made mine (the big one for tonight) and a small cupcake for last night. Then after I ate it, it just tasted off. Silly me forgot an ingredient so I get to go home and start over, oy!

Oh Kim, I guess great minds think alike! I love Sweetapolita! That’s where I got the recipe for the cake I just made (the one I posted to instagram.) Anyway, I want to make this cake too!!!! Yours turned out wonderful! I would’ve left off the ballerinas too, though for my little girl, I might have to find some! lol. The tulips are gorgeous. So glad to hear that you helped to make your day special. Pampering is wonderful, even if it’s self-indulgent. Happy Birthday!!!!
