Yesterday was 60 degrees.
It was a beautiful day…but we knew IT was coming. We were expecting a snow day here in Atlanta, and were really excited about the possibility.
If you could be home, the snow was great. However, many schools did not anticipate how fast this system was moving in. We southerners do not have the infrastructure to deal with icy roads. It got bad quickly. As I type, people are still trying to get home. Many on the roads over 9 hours, just trying to make it home. Thousands of kids never made it out of school today. They are overnighting.
25/365…yes, I’m cheating.
We’ve had a good day filled with fun, snow, and warm food. My husband got on the road just in time to beat the gridlock. He had some struggles and saw accidents…but he made it home before the worst. It’s amazing that two inches of snow could wreak such havoc. It seems silly, but it does. Everything will ice over soon, if not already. Pray for those who are stranded on roads…and for the kids spending the night in schools without the comforts of parents. The school officials blew it. At least our county closed schools last night. We are thankful to be homeschoolers tonight.
