Little Things Thursday

Well.  Here we sit waiting to see once again if we will get the much hyped up winter storm south of Atlanta.  Seriously, the forecast has been all over the spectrum for rain, wintry mix, snow and whatever else falls in between.  So far we’ve had just rain where we are. We keep hoping and checking to see if this rain changes to snow. I know, it’s laughable the way we southerners get.

My kids are going to be so disappointed if it doesn’t snow, though.  It’s not looking promising.

To take their minds off of it, I decided to make afternoon tea.  I made some blueberry muffins with the berries that needed to be used up, cut up some strawberries, and put on a pot of Earl Grey.

Tea Time

It’s nice to think about doing an afternoon tea on the regular.  Maybe we will.

It’s a little something that makes ordinary, dreary days special.

What’s your Little Thing this week?

  1. I like those two patterned mugs in the front. Afternoon tea does sound delightful on these dreary days. Tomorrow we have swim practice in the early evening so not sure if afternoon tea can fit in our schedule even though tomorrow will be another rainy, dreary cool day.

  2. Your pictures looks so cozy and the teacup is very nice.
We make an afternoon tea all the days, it’s a lovely use…
Hope, you’ve got a pretty little snow and not a big rainstorm

  3. Oh, that third shot is SO sweet!

You just gave me an idea of what to do this afternoon with the kids. They’re home from school early today and I was thinking of taking them out to shop for birthday prezzies for a couple of birthday parties they’re attending this weekend and have tea afterwards at a coffee shop, but tea at home sounds so much more cozy and special. 🙂

  9. Siberians, Alaskans, and Bostonians are probably the only people who can, in earnest, say if they see one more snow flake they’ll scream. We have had a good share of snow (there have been winters with no snow, but more often than not we at least get some snow) – even still, there is an inherent level of excitement when those flakes begin to fall. If it could remain a comfortable 50 degrees and do it, I (and my house plumbing) would be grateful. On other other hand, it does at least have to be warm enough to snow (that you Mr. Chemistry Teacher) and that is some reprieve from the sub-zero temps. So — let it snow, let it snow.

  10. I love that you had a little tea party with your kids…my mom used to do that here and there with my sisters and I. We had little tea cups that she had found at Goodwill, etc. so we each had our special cup. It’s such a simple thing but I have so many nice memories from that. Years later, I threw a tea party shower for one of my sisters for her wedding…things come around, don’t they? I can’t wait to do this with my daughter. 🙂 Have a wonderful week–and here’s hoping for your kids’ sake that you get at least a dusting of snow! 🙂

  12. Yes, the weather is rather disappointing this morning, isn’t it? Good for you, creating something special in the mundane. That’s a good example I’d like to follow.

  13. Honestly, I am always in awe of all the “little” things do with your kids. It’s those little things that will produce big memories for them as they grow.

  14. The weather this season has been so strange – we have had spring like weather most of the winter. I’m not complaining though- our time will come. 🙂 LOVE your tea set – it’s gorgeous!!!

  18. I used to drink tea when I was younger, but now I’m more of a coffee gal. I may have give it another try. (I’m so allergic to so many plants though I wonder if the tea would bother me?) I know how your kids feel, every winter I hope for just a frost or a snowflake to photograph! But that’s all! lol

The weather has been so crummy east of us, not sure if we are going ahead with our ancestry trip to Jamestown N.C and PA in two weeks? We have such limited time since our drive is long from Texas that a weather event would really throw us off.

  23. I sure wish we could get some of that rain and snow over here. We’re sliding into hot season over here, which is officially my least favorite thing ever. And the weather has been so changeable too, that pretty much everyone is sick. Bleah. Anyway, I’m sipping some tea over here too! Enjoy the rain and the excuse to cozy up!
