Little Things Thursday

I love my Dodge Caravan for many reasons.  One of those reasons is the dvd player, even though we only let the kids watch something on long car trips.

We’ve run the gamut of our current movie collection, so I decided to splurge on a few new titles for our upcoming road trip.

I’m very picky about what I let my kids watch…probably to a fault.  One genre I have let them get into is classic TV.

I bought these discs for the road.

My kids adore Lucy.  The rest are going to be new for them, though they may have viewed Andy Griffith a time or two.

I use to love Herbie as a little girl. I-think-I-just-outed-my-age!  I will say that all of the TV shows were in syndication for years and years before I had an opportunity to watch them.

I also realized that my kids have never seen Mary Poppins!! I’m not sure how that happened, but it will be a good getting excited for Disney movie.

I’m in the throes of packing today, but I can’t wait to see what you’ve been capturing!

  4. Love those shows. We too are very picky about what the kids watch. Seems we can’t even have the news on each night without having the commercials being inappropriate. We try to keep them sheltered & innocent when it comes to the more adult content. I don’t keep them from the violent things or the scary things because I want them to be aware of their surroundings- but the “other” stuff I would rather them wait on. This is why those classics are good- they are more innocent. Back before the content was as crude as it is today.

  5. Kim, I was also very protective of what my girls watched when they were little. I just think it is FAB how the vehicles have these DVD players for the children now…What a Godsend that would of been when we were traveling.

  6. I love my van too, and mine are teenagers – more room to take and pick kids up and the seats fold down so we can put all kinds of stuff back there. We don’t have the dvd player though, and when we would make our almost 20 hour, 2 day drive to Chicago when they were really little I would make them 3 ring binders with pencils and stickers and paper, and all kinds of fun stuff to do and of course there is the alphabet game that we still play today! haha How long is your drive? Have a fun and safe trip Kim!! xo

I finally have DVD players in my new van and love it! Best part is they came with headphones 🙂 Now our trips to visit relatives will be much more peaceful…I hope!

Love those old shows. I grew up watching them too. And Mary Poppins has always been a fave.

    Safe travels and enjoy!!
