Little Things Thursday

Welcome back to Little Things Thursday!  What a crazy week we are having here in the south.  We still have snow on the ground, and very cold temps. It will be later today before we see the rest of the snow and ice melt away.

We had a great little snow break in our immediate family, but we did find out that several of my family members were trapped in this “Snow Jam” of sorts in the Atlanta Metro Area.  My brother and sister-in-law were trapped for 20 hours either on the road or in a Waffle House.  My dad chose to overnight at his office.  It’s not the snow that gets us, but the ice on the roads.  Everyone is fine now, but it was such a mess for those who were not able to make it home before the snows and ice came.

I’m thankful that we were hunkered down at home.

Gracyn Snow Day

I can’t recall ever having snow that started to accumulate on our heads like this. We are used to it melting right away. We girls needed hats.

I must confess taking a little liberty with my 365 this past week. I got behind. Very behind. I’m catching up with images taken on the same day.

Let’s hope you all have had a less dramatic week.  What’s going on in your corner of the world?

Well, I’m so jealous….they cancelled school for Tuesday on Monday because of all of this mess, but I only saw a few snow flakes drift by my second story window, that’s it. I did hear on the radio today that a few schools even had to keep the kids overnight in the school because of your weather. How unsettling is that?

Love these, and I like the snow in the hair!

  4. I always wonder how people can live without snow(and I am secreting so jealous). I am so sick of snow right now. But I have lived in the midwest my entire life. It must be so wonderful to have snow as a treat only!!

A little bit of winter I love …snowflakes in the hair …
But if everything is as smooth as glass ceases to be fun. And cold – brrrrrrrrrr.
Hope it goes with you soon over (we hardly begun, was not bad, but last year already met our target 😉 )

  7. Beautiful photos! Love the captured falling snow around them!

  8. Beautiful photos, as always, Kim! We’ve had more snow and cold than I’d like. Not that it is uncommon here in Pennsylvania, but still. Five days of school cancellations so far plus several 2-hour delays. We’re all going a bit stir crazy. Thankfully it looks like today will be a normal day. We’re supposed to hit a balmy 28 degrees! 🙂

  9. Oh my – I love seeing those faces but I think my most favorite thing about fresh snow is those individual snowflakes glistening on top. They look like confetti. It’s incredible to witness.

I’m so terribly sorry that your family had to go through that. Praying the rest of the winter creates less issues for everyone.

  11. Yep! It’s the ice that will get ya every single time. You just can’t drive on that! Enjoy your bit of winter down there! 🙂

  12. I’m sorry there was so much trouble down there with the snow and ice. Kinda took the magic out of it all…but I’m happy for you that you had a safe, play-filled snow day! Great shots of happy faces! I heard different news broadcasts comparing the number of plows etc that southern cities have compared to Boston….which is normal considering the number of storms in the different regions…but it made me so appreciative for the work that gets done here when we get hit. I mean, unless there’s major ice or almost a foot, you don’t even feel the rhythm slow that much!

  13. The ice is always nasty. Glad you’re all staying warm. Your photos show that beauty comes in the snow too.
    Happy Thursday.

  14. Particularly love that carefree shot of Gracyn! It really was powdry snow, wasn’t it? So glad all your extended family was safe, even if not all home. I trust everyone is safe at home now.

It’s always the ice that is the kicker in the southern states that don’t have salt to deal with it. So glad your immediate family was safe at home. I’m sure that white stuff is a lot of fun for you guys. Us, we’re really sick of it now!
I need to figure out how to get that Pinterest hover thing to work – it looks really cool!

  16. I count my blessings to have never (so far – and knocking on wood) get stuck on the interstate due to weather and have to abandon my vehicle. Last winter my husband had to park his vehicle in the village and I had to retrieve him with my 4-wheel drive – but at least it was parked somewhere safe. Ice is the worst and we’ve had many days where you could strap up and skate on the road by the house – once you got up the hill and beyond the golf course, it was manageable.

    Adorable pictures of the kids.

Beautiful shots Kim! I’m so sorry about your family. The horrible stories are all over the news. What an ordeal! We got about 10 inches of snow, but fortunately, everything was closed and cancelled before the storm really came through.

So glad your family is safe!

  18. Ah…beautiful images as always…Wish we had gotten some snow…but all we got was sleet.
