Little Things Thursday

Welcome back to Little Things Thursday! I think we are starting to settle in to our summer groove. I usually take a full week between school’s end and really delving in to summer to get my life straight. This year it was all about decluttering, a sort of refresher for the home after a year of being on the go. It feels so great to have aired out the home, so to speak.

And we brought some life back to our backyard. Memorial Day weekend had the whole family out weeding, mulching, and potting flowers. I love bringing some life back to our dull post winter yard each year. We have several tomato plants in the ground and that, besides our berry bushes, will be the only vegetables we plant this year. They are pretty much the only veggie with any sort of success rate around here. And by here, I mean with us. We are a bit brown and green with the thumbs. You just never know…

How was your Memorial Day weekend?

  1. Sprucing up the yard for the summer is always refreshing. Pretty shot of your hanging basket. It gets way to hot for these pretties to last around here. Thanks for hosting this meme Kim. xo

  2. I so miss gardening! Sounds like a fun way to spend the long weekend!

  3. We can’t grow very much in our yard, so we did a soil test to see if we could sort it out. Turned out, one of the main reasons nothing seemed to thrive had to do with the soil. So this Spring, when we planted our roses and moved our hydrangeas, we added fertilizer and more soil/mulch to the ground, tilled it all up and for the moment, those are doing much better than in previous years.

  4. Oh tomatoes sound great as does the decluttering. We have not been too successful with our garden yet. The lemon tree did well, but we brought it inside for the winter. We will see how it does now that it’s back outside. I think we threw it off it’s cycle. Reading this just fuels my desire to continue to declutter myself. I know what I’m doing this weekend.

  5. Pretty blooms! Have a lovely week!

  6. Our Memorial Day was nice and quiet 🙂 Your day sounds lovely, Kim! I’m so glad you took on the de-cluttering! Right now we’re in a one-bedroom cottage, while we wait to build our forever-home, so living with less is a necessity. Hopefully one that carriers forward even when we have more space! Have a blessed week!

  7. Lovely blossoms and a good idea to make some changes, to spend some time in the garden, now when the sunny time has come!

(By Wed. night I’ve been too much on the computer, so am kind of taking “my day off” on Thurs.). Maybe because I’m still new on doing a linky list, I don’t know how you do it – meaning a linky list – with having school going children! Kudos to you:)
