Getting Ready

Atlanta is bracing for our next winter storm.  Pax is promising to bring an ice storm to us overnight and thru Thursday morning.

We all remember how Atlanta basically shut down a few weeks ago with snow and ice. We are hearing words like “historic” and “catastrophe” for Pax.

Many of us chuckle when the bread and milk disappears from shelves anytime a snowflake falls, but something tells me that preparing well for this storm is wise.  We spent Monday shoring up our defenses.

We made sure that we had food, candles, firewood, flashlights, and batteries.  On a lighter note, we made sure we had fun winter hats, warm socks, and proper footwear.  Last snow our feet were a little unprepared.

It will be interesting to see what really happens.  Some think this is Atlanta’s do-over for those in office.  Stronger warnings were issued this go around.  I don’t know, really.  We are preparing for the worst anyway.

This is a big wait and see.  We are praying that we have no damage to our home and being.

I’m still planning to have Little Things Thursday come what may.  I’m preparing that post early to go live as usual.  Y’all come keep me company on Thursday!

  7. Sounds like you are ready – hoping many learned from the last round. It reminds me of once my Mother-in-Law lost her power in a real bad storm. She had nothing for 2 weeks with 9 feet of snow outside. She was cooking on the woodstove & making due. Most important thing is to keep warm & have food that is ready to eat. Prayers that it isn’t as bad as they are warning. LOVE & HUGS!

  8. Never underestimate a woman, even Mother Nature :). Hope this is all just precautionary for you. However, I am on MY wait out the door to replenish for the 12″+ they are forecasting here. ARGH…and I just got my power back from that LAST storm.

  9. Sending warm wishes your way Kim, for safety and comfort during and after the storm…

  10. Hoping you are keeping warm and still have power! Hang in there!

  11. Hope you are staying warm and safe:)

  12. It sure does sound like y’all are having one heck of a winter over there! I think the cold has come a bit this way too; it’s been quite temperate over here. I’ll be glad if this hot season isn’t too hot!

Stay warm and safe! We’re still in the midst of a weird (for us!), very cold spell and the heaters are on full blast almost all day.
