A Pocket Full Of Sunshine Boutique|Review

I’m doing a little something different for Little Things Thursday this week! Over the summer, I was contacted by the super cute children’s clothing company A Pocket Full of Sunshine Boutique to try out a couple of their items for review. My little girl is all grown up, but I’m surrounded by darling little girls in my town.  I put out a model call for one of them to model some dresses for me, and this doll stepped forward!

First, you have got to see all the clothing on A Pocket Full of Sunshine’s website. The outfits are adorable.  I love all the unique items that your girls will love this back to school season.  You won’t find these items in the collections in your local stores.  To me, that is a plus! As a photographer, I am also always looking for great companies to recommend to my clients for putting together a wardrobe for portraits. A Pocket Full of Sunshine has so many great, affordable options.

Like this adorable Blue Lace Florence dress:

Little Things Thursday

I’ve decided to jump feet first into Bible journaling.  Have you heard of this? It’s a way to express your faith artistically, if art speaks to your heart.   It’s sort of scrapbooking meets your quiet time.

You can buy a journaling Bible or you can just use any kind of sketchbook.  The one I am getting is currently back-ordered, and I have been waiting for several weeks to get mine. I’ve been gathering materials meanwhile.

Bible journaling

Basically whatever speaks to you during your Bible reading time can become an artistic expression in the margins. I’ve seen some amazing artwork from others in some of the communities I have found.

Bible journaling

There is something about joining creativity with faith that feels very full-circle to me.

Bible journaling

And even though I think I’m not crafty or very good at this kind of art, I am hoping it will open up more undiscovered creative spaces in me.  2015 is all about pausing to follow new rabbit trails and to discover new things along the way.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, here are a few spaces to get you started.  Shanna’s blog.  Printables and Totes. Facebook Community. ESV Single Column Journaling Bible (TruTone, Chestnut, Leaves Design) <-affilitate link.  There are a variety of Bibles to order on Amazon for this purpose.

And if scripture isn’t your thing, you can do this with any written word that speaks to you. I love the way art leaves impressions on your soul whether you have natural talent, or none!

Create anyway. It’s a great Little Thing.

What are you creating this week?

Kidecals reached out to me a few weeks ago about trying some of their personalized decals.  The selections were great!  I love the idea of labeling everything because if your kids are like mine, they leave their stuff everywhere.  Summer is definitely a perfect time for using Kidecals durable labels.

I’m usually a Sharpie pen girl.  However, over time even Sharpie pens start to wear off.  You can use Kidecals on any surface…even fabric! They are dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer safe.  You can be confident that these labels will keep your kid’s personal belongings labeled for the long haul.

I will use my labels on all our sporting gear that seems to get “lost”.

Kidecals is offering my readers a 15% off discount so that you can get all those labels you need for summer camps and activities. Simple use the code: fashion at checkout.  Go stock up on Kidecals for your kids!

Kidecals provided me with their product to try and review. All opinions are my own.

Must Haves

I’m taking a deep breath of relief this Monday morning.  We’ve gotten through the first hurried, chaotic weeks of summer and now maybe that slower summer pace will begin.  So far it has felt like the same kind of different.

However, this morning I am willing myself to carve out some time to get caught up to speed! Starting with showing you guys my POPSUGAR Must Have Box for June!

PopSugar must have June-web

POPSUGAR Must Have Boxes are a box subscription service that pulls together some great products for you to try!  I was so impressed with the full-sized products! My Must Have Box felt like a present!

June’s box is totally inspired by summer! The box is chock full of things to take along to the beach or a day by the pool.

Of course a fun book is requisite for lounging on the sand or poolside.  Emily Griffin’s The One & Only will be perfect for a fun summer read.  I’m looking forward to carving out time to indulge.

I’m loving that huge bottle of Sachajuan Shiny Citrus Body Lotion.  It smells so, so good!  I just want to drench myself in it.

I was delighted by the Turkish-T Beach Towel.  It’s really luxurious.  You can use it either as a beach towel or you can turn it into a sarong.  You can wrap in so many creative ways to cover up going to and from the beach or pool. I love the color and the stripes!

Lollies hair ties are so cute.  I’m always reaching for a pony tail holder during the summer months.  These ties are made out of swimwear fabric.  You can totally wear them as you play in the water.  They hold their shape, and look so polished!

Did someone at POPSUGAR know of my affinity for kettle style chips?  I can’t wait to dig into this bag of Hawaiian BBQ.  I’m not sharing.

I had to smile at the You Smell Lemon Wet Wipes.  Yep, I’m a germaphobe.  I love having ways to clean my hands on the go.  The lemon fragrance will surely add a little refreshment to the process. I’m going to save these for travel.  They will be perfect for those quick freshen-ups!

Finally, as a bonus, Native Union included a $15 gift card for their fun gadgetry! I’ve already spotted a super fun iPhone cover. If you are geek-fabulous, you will love Native Union’s range of products.

POPSUGAR’S June Must Have Box was incredible!

Because I am a POPSUGAR Select blogger, I get to offer you guys a $10 discount on a 3-month subscription for Must Have Boxes! Sign up by June 30th and use the code JUNESELECT10 for your discount!

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have Box.  The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it.

Stitch Fix

It’s no big secret that I love clothes.  I don’t really focus on that here so much, but I do love feeling put together.  A blogger/IRL friend recommended Stitch Fix to me a few months ago, and I was intrigued.   The premise behind Stitch Fix is getting fun clothes without having to darken the doors of a store.   I know shopping is hard for me with kiddos in tow.   What’s really cool is that Stitch Fix provides a personal shopper to pick out your clothes based on a style profile you complete online! The style profile is fairly detailed to get a gauge on what you like and need.  I filled mine out, and waited for an email asking me to schedule a “Fix”.

My Fix arrived today!

SF box 1

I was excited to see if my personal shopper was accurate.

SF box 2

The contents had a great presentation.  So far…liking it.

I really love these how to style tags on each item.  I ended up keeping this dress.  It is adorable and versatile.

stitch fix 1 You get 5 items per Fix. The only two items that were a miss for me were the red skirt and the orange tank.  The red skirt was just too short for me, at my age.  The print was cute, but I have to watch the length on clothing.  I really didn’t care for the print on the tank, even though it fit really well.  The ruffle down the front also stuck out a bit, and looked weird.

I have to take a minute to mention that I’m all self-conscious about my messy room and dirty mirror. Our room has become the catch all during our redecorating process.  I was expecting my box tomorrow, so I feel like my slip is showing.  Just gonna keep it real though.

I did like the polka dotted artist style shirt, the layered necklace, and the bird print dress.  However, I am only choosing to keep the dress this time.  I loved the dress and can see this being a fun summer dress with sandals, or worn with tights, boots, and cardi in the fall! That made it a keeper for me.

The items I didn’t choose, were put into a pre-paid addressed envelop provided by Stitch Fix to be returned.  You do have to put a $20 deposit on each Fix, but that money is applied to anything you keep! If you keep all 5 items, you get a 25% discount on the whole order.  If you choose to return all items, you do lose the $20.  That’s the only risk.  Communication with your stylist is important, and she will look at your Pinterest boards for ideas. So start Pinning!  She gathered that I love Anthropology, and really tried to find those looks for me.  You can also set your price points to what you can afford.  The prices run the full spectrum.

All in all, my first Fix is a thumbs up! I’ll schedule my next one closer to fall when I need those kinds of clothes. You schedule the Fix when you need it, and you can ask your stylist to focus on certain kinds of items. Since I’m headed to Peru in September, I may ask for some clothing based around that trip.

Check out Stitch Fix for yourself! (referral code)

Links to Love

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a links to love post.  I figured a sick day would be a great time to share the things that I’m currently loving.

chicken soup

I made some homemade chicken soup since 4 out of 5 of us have colds.  I don’t know if chicken soup really has a health benefit, but it does benefit the soul.

Links to love.

The first week of January is almost over!  We are in the last days of our school break, but with the dawn of Monday we will be back to the 3Rs.

I’ve so enjoyed the late nights, late mornings, and watching TV by the fire.  Pure. Bliss.

The extended Christmas break makes a July school start so worth it.

But.  Routine is good, too.

While we are gearing up to get back on the hamster wheel, here are a few links I’m loving this week.

This delicious meal is now on our winter rotation.  It is incredible and incredibly easy.

January is the perfect month for Snowball playdough.

I would love a rose gold watch and a rose gold pave chain bracelet.  It is my birthday month. But…who am I kidding?

How cute is this coat in the IT color for 2013?

Love this bag!

These owl handwarmers would be perfect for kiddies on chilly days.

Robot marshmallows are a cute way to use up leftover marshmallows and candies from the holidays.

Happy Friday!

Links to Love

I haven’t had much time to curate some of my favorite things this week, but I do have two things that I am really excited to share!

If you don’t know by now, I love Korean Dramas! My good friend and I watch them and discuss all the things we love about them. We may indeed be considered totally weird regarding this, but we do know a good thing when we see it.  I just finished You are Beautiful. (Also known as He is Beautiful)

I adored….let me say it again, ADORED this one!  I laughed. I cried. I smiled. I enjoyed this so much.   (There are also some cutie patooties in it. Wink. Wink.)  This is a must see if you are a person who can enjoy a show with subtitles and are open to watching something unique. In a nutshell, a young girl preparing to enter a convent finds herself posing as her twin brother as a member of a Korean Boy Band. This is so funny.  It is available on Netflix.  Check it out. Seriously.  If you aren’t currently on Netflix you can watch this also on epdrama, and other sites that let you watch for free.  Do a google search, and you’ll find a few.

Another great Korean Drama is Lie to Me. Also available on Netflix, Hulu, dramacrazy, and epdrama.

This one is also super cute and fun!   Gong Ah Gung lies to her snobby friend, Soo Ran, about being married to a world class hotel manager (whom she does not know) and finds herself in lots of tricky situations.  This one will not disappoint either.

These shows are clean, and sweet…a far cry from some of the shows being touted today.

Lord willing, I am enjoying myself in New York this morning! I hope you have a great plans today, too!

While we I am out capturing the city, I’ll leave you with this cute guy and some links to love.

This is a cute way to repurpose a pool noodle.

Everybody needs one of these emergency kits for the car.

After seeing Avengers this week, I know my kids would love these superhero capes!

This is an adorable kid snack.

A great reminder of why we take photographs.

Don’t forget to enter this giveaway!

See you Monday!
