My first Birchbox arrived today! I have been really anticipating my first box. I don’t know about you, but I like getting a little package of treats just for me. I like a little pampering now and then.
So, here is the what getting a Birchbox is like::
A bright pink mailing box arrives in your mailbox around the middle of each month.
You smile and open it up. Inside is your product box. I love how sturdy these boxes are. You could repurpose these.
Your anticipation builds wondering what is inside. You open the lid and find a product card.
You can already see what is inside the box. Notice the full-size prices listed on the card. Typically you get 4 deluxe samples, plus a Lifestyle Extra. You get a bonus sample that may not be an actual beauty product. There is also additional information at Birchbox.com.
Pull back the pretty pink tissue paper.
You’ll find some of your samples wrapped in “the dumpling”. The pink card on top reminds you to visit Birchbox.com to give product reviews and feedback for reward points!
Open the dumpling and see what you got!
I got 5 samples of Befine skincare products. I have 3 packets of the Brown Sugar exfoliating cleanser and 2 packets of Rosemary, Pomegranite, and Rice moisturizer with SPF. These are all paraben free. I’m really looking forward to trying these.
Along facial cleanser lines, I also got a June Jacobs Perfect Pumpkin Enzyme Polish. The full-size is $60. This sample alone covers my $10 investment. It is also paraben free and smells just like pumpkin pie!
My nail color is Age of Aquarius by Color Club. It is actually a fair sized polish sample. I will be able to use it for awhile. It’s a fun spring color.
My fragrance is Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture. I’m familiar with this fragrance as most of us may be. I do like it. It is in the same scent range that I typically go for.
My Lifestyle Extra is ShowStoppers Designer Fashion Tape. Basically these are double-sided tape strips to keep you from being too revealing with certain cuts of tops or dresses. I probably would not repurchase these, honestly. They will be good to have on hand if I do need them, but I try to stay away from clothes that don’t fit properly. I’ll give them a try one day.
I am pleased with my first box, but it was a complete surprise. In my decision to sign up for a subscription, I saw what others were getting in their April boxes. I didn’t get one of those products. The product card did mention that, being my first box, they gathered some of their all time favorites to share with me. I assume that is the situation.
Word on Birchbox’s blog is that next month’s box will be inspired by Gossip Girl. The stylists for Gossip Girl are curating some of their products for us to try. Now, truth be told, I don’t watch Gossip Girl. However, I am feeling that this is going to be a great box! Their recent Teen Vogue picks box was a huge hit, so I am banking on May being a hit too. I’m going to show some self-control and try really hard not to peek.
That’s my first Birchbox! I can’t wait to try everything out.
