2016 in review

It seems like the multitudes are waiting for 2016 to end and to start fresh with 2017. For many 2016 was the year everyone hoped to forget. I disagree.

My feelings are subjective because I know 2016 was unpleasant for a large populace and there was a lot of hurting around the world. However, outside of being barraged by constant political ranting, 2016 has been a pretty good year, for me. For us.

2016 seems to be the year where life’s journey started making sense once again. Have you ever stopped to think about how decisions big and small or life’s disappointments that may not make sense at the time are simply the unfoldings of better things? How each thing is a thread in the evolving story? Things you only understand as you faithfully keep turning the page to discover the gifts? This year I have had more “ah ha moments” that have reassured me that God is writing this story. And He has allowed me the privilege of seeing a bit of foreshadowing along the way, which has been a blessing after such a season of walking with just the very next step visible.

While each day is still a discovery, I feel reassured that God knows what He is doing. He knows where we need to be, and where we need to invest our time, talents, and treasures. He knows exactly who we need on our team and who we are better off without. He is good. All the time. It’s good to just stop and marvel at the unexpected gifts he bestows upon us. Seriously, take just a second and think about one or two unexpected gifts of this year and what an act of grace it has been to you. ┬áNever stop marveling at how much God loves you and hears the desires of your heart.

I could go on…instead, how about a photo round-up of some of my favorites of the year?

So, on to 2017…I usually do a word of the year and some goals. I’m keeping it simple this year. I purpose to take more photos of people I(we)love. I just think that is so important. I kind of bombed this year with consistency and I just want to make sure that I am more mindful. Other than that, I purpose to savor, enjoy, and say yes to all the things that truly matter.

Happy New Year, Friends! So glad you are part of my life.
